Primary Purpose of the Role:
To work within a Through- Life Support Engine (TSE) team and undertake Technical Publications and Courseware Development activities to customers’ requirements with day to day guidance or supervision in a professional manner, in accordance with relevant specifications, standards and Thales (Chorus II) and internal documentation processes.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Make Technical Publications and Courseware Authoring decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority;
- Fulfil the operating, maintenance and support requirements agreed with the customer. The information must be clearly and unambiguously presented, in a manner appropriate to the level of skill, experience and technical understanding of the users and maintainers of the equipment. It thus contributes to the customer’s ultimate objective of improving the success rate of maintenance, and reducing the lifecycle cost of ownership of equipment;
- Liaison with all aspects of engineering through the interaction with engineering personnel / interrogation of contributory engineering database. It will involve the research and origination of new and amended textual data for a wide range of equipment and maintenance activities;
- Compile data, to a variety of national / international /civil military specifications, and produce physical/electronic deliverables;
- Manage own elements of Technical Publications and Courseware Development;
- Contribute team planning, risk management, quality and HSE;
- Set targets for and manage own development with line manager;
- Seek and share good practice and knowledge to continuously improve own practices.
Key performance Indicators against Responsibilities and Tasks:
12-month KPIs:
- Achieve an On-Time Delivery (OTD) of 100% for all milestones and 85% for all other deliverables including work packages subject to programme dependencies;
- Maintain a weekly progress sheet up to date and report any issues to your line manager;
- Support work packages for the monthly updates. Assist with Estimates to Completion (ETC);
- Support process improvements within the Technical Publications and Training domain;
- Complete all documentation to the specified standards.
About you
Skills:
Essential:
- Strong proficiency within standard Microsoft Office packages/authoring tools;
- Excellent standard of written and spoken English;
- Ability to turn technical information into easily understood text.
Desirable:
- Technical and/or courseware authoring;
- Engineering knowledge/experience;
- Good understanding of engineering standards and processes;
- Basic Logistic Support Analysis (LSA);
- Use of a Learning Management System (LMS) and Learning Content Management System (LCMS);
- 3D graphic design;
- Basic technical illustration, graphic design.
Experience:
Essential:
- Good communication skills with a customer focus
- Strong organisation and planning experience
- Proven to be able to work to targets and deadlines
Desirable:
- Engineering Product Lifecycle;
- Technical Authoring in an engineering environment;
- Creation and maintenance of courseware documentation, including online -learning content.
- Simplified Technical English;
- Assessing the outcomes of learning and learners achievement;
- Writing in a structured environment (eg XML to S1000D, DITA).

Qualifications:
Desirable one of the following:
- BTEC qualified in engineering science with some engineering experience
- City and Guilds qualified in engineering science with some engineering experience.
- Recognised Training qualification (TAP, BTEC, City and Guilds)
