Job description
Aviation Recruitment experts Optime are searching for an experienced Baggage handler to join a well-respected and successful client at Bristol Airport.
Whats on offer:
- Rate of pay: £12.81 per hour.
- Overtime paid time and a half.
- 40hrs per week.
- Shift Pattern: 5-on / 3-off.
- Weekly Pay(each Friday).
- Temp to Perm (performance based).

The Airport is operational 7 days per week and candidates will be working on a 5 on 3 off rolling rota.
Please bear in mind this is subject to change!
An example of the shift hours:
- Day 1: 0330 till 1325
- Day 2: 0330 till 1325
- Day 3: 0400 till 1325
- Day 4: 1200 till 2125
- Day 5: 1000 till 2030
There will be lots of overtime available if interested.
*Please also note there may be times where overtime is not available*
Key Duties:
- You will be processing customers luggage, ensuring they are loaded into the aircraft for departure and unloaded and transported to the airport on arrival.
- You will be working both airside and within the Undercroft (baggage unit).
- This is a manual role; you will need to be physically fit and able to repetitively lift and move luggage up to 30KG in weight - It is important to know that there will be down time during your shift between arrivals or departures.
- This is a multi-skilled position, as the role progresses, candidates will be given the opportunity to up skill and to operate several different vehicles and items of machinery within the role, for example - buggies transporting passenger luggage and tug vehicles to help the aircraft prepare for take-off.
- Full training will be provided.
- Please note that the role takes place both indoor and outdoor and will experience all weather conditions.
- Full PPE will be provided.
Requirements
- Full UK Driving License Required.
- Passport or Birth Certificate, ID card or biometric card.
- UK Settled Status (If applicable).
- Proof of National Insurance.
- Proof of (current) Address.
- 5 Year Address History.
- 5 Year Work Reference History.
Successful candidates must complete a basic criminal record check following the interview in line with CAA requirements.
PLEASE NOTE: As this position is in the aviation industry, successful applicants must be able to provide 5-year checkable history.
