Technical Animator in Edinburgh

As a Technical Animator at this studio in Edinburgh, you will use your passion for technical art to develop and support titles in progress, taking on a key position on some ambitious projects alongside some of the biggest talent around in games.
This award-winning studio is home to one of the most globally famous game series of all time, as well as a veteran team that can be considered the best at what they do. Working to create a culture of innovation, creativity, and talent, this is a unique and exciting opportunity for a skilled animator to take the next step in their career, working on a brand-new AAA title.
Technical Animator responsibilities:
- Work on a wide variety of technical tasks related to animation
- Create tools with Motion Builder/Maya to push workflows forward
- Write tools/systems and integrate them in the animation pipeline
- Push engine features forward to keep animation systems at the cutting-edge
- Create advanced facial/character/weapon/vehicle rigs and tooling
- Develop and build facial animation and recognition pipeline
- Write C++ plugins to customise and extend DCC packages
- Write automation tasks to support expanding requirements
- Create tools and scripts to support animation production/tracking
- Stay up to date with latest technologies/research
Key requirements for this role in Edinburgh: - University degree (or equivalent experience in the games industry)
- Experience as a Technical Artist, Animation or similar
- Strong portfolio of previous work
- Coding/scripting skills with OOP knowledge
- Able to write tools in DCC packages
- Able to code in an IDE and debugging
- Understanding of DCC packages for authoring animation for games
