This is a top-tier ranked specialist employment law firm.
The team consists of six partners, 13 associates and seven practice group staff.
In the legal directories, the team is ranked as Band 1 for Senior Executive work and all six of their partners are individually ranked, as is a Managing Associate.
Your new role
The firm have a flexible concept of what classifies as employment law work than a lot of firms. Put simply, it is any legal work that arises out of the workplace. This means that as well as accepting instructions on "classic" employment law matters (such as contract negotiations, severance negotiations and unfair dismissal, whistleblowing and discrimination litigation), they also advise clients on matters such as restrictive covenant and confidentiality disputes, partnership and LLP work, contractual disputes under the jurisdiction of the High Court, misrepresentation and personal injury claims arising out of stress at work.
Within that broad spectrum, the significant majority of their work is for individuals, advising on matters which are contentious. Although they can act for employees in any industry, their core client base is either in the financial services sector, professional services or in the C-suite industry. If a settlement cannot be achieved pre-action, then they represent their clients in Employment Tribunal or High Court litigation (or sometimes both) and they have an excellent track record in achieving successful outcomes in litigation.
They also have a strong and expanding employer practice. They have long-standing relationships with many of our employer clients, meaning we have got to know them and their business so can provide pragmatic and commercial advice alongside legal advice. There is minimal to no corporate support work, which many candidates regard as positive.
