Our dynamics team provides cutting edge structural vibration serviceability analysis and design advice on a diverse range of projects across the globe, including the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, the Museum of the Future in Dubai and Sinfonia Varsovia in Warsaw. We specialise in pushing the boundaries of conventional design guidance to deliver innovative solutions to our clients. With the current climate emergency, the efficient use of materials tops the agenda pushing the serviceability performance of structures to the fore. Thus, our workload is on the rise.
Your next role
The successful applicant will progress their vibration serviceability design abilities, whilst continuing to develop their static design skills. They will be programmed into projects where dynamics support is required, such as stadium grandstands and roofs, laboratories, airports, timber framed offices and feature staircases
We are looking for an articulate and collaborative team member with an eye for detail who would like to develop their technical skills in the field of structural dynamics.
- Improving vibration serviceability design abilities through training and project work, whilst developing static design skills.
- Providing dynamics support to projects including stadium grandstands and roofs, laboratories, airports, timber framed offices and feature staircases.
- Working independently and as part of a team to offer creative solutions.
- Supporting the team with calculations, models, reports, and presentations to an excellent standard, on time and to budget.
- Share your work for review by senior colleagues and review the work of others for quality assurance.
- Create an atmosphere of delivering excellent work encouraging others to do the same.
- Representing Buro Happold at design team meetings, working with approval authorities on designs and proposals.
- Managing relationships with internal and external clients, Engineers and other stakeholders.
- Sharing knowledge internally and on behalf of Buro Happold at meetings and events.
Your skills & experience
- Building structures design experience.
- Experience as a structural engineer on major projects.
- Design knowledge, from working on a wide range of projects and using British, US and European codes of practice.
- Experience using common analysis software (including or similar to CSC Fastrak, TEDDS, ROBOT, ETABS and SAFE) and willing to quickly learn to use new analysis packages as required.
- A Bachelor’s degree BEng / BSc or Master’s degree MEng / MSc in a relevant discipline.
- Taking active steps to progress towards Chartership and continual professional development.
- Previous exposure to vibration serviceability design.
- Desire and aspiration to develop your capabilities in the field of structural dynamics.
