Job Description

Job Title: SWE Finance Manager

Salary: TBC at interview stage

Location: Luxembourg

Hours: Full-time

Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Luxembourg office location.

About this opportunity:

Accountabilities will include:
  • Oversee all corporate accounting and finance functions and activities including treasury management, reporting and analysis, financial consolidation, creating and reviewing policies, budgeting, recruiting, training and conducting regular assessments of financial procedures;
  • Manage and complete the month, quarter and year-end close and assure adherence to Lux-GAAP and completes reconciliations of balance sheet accounts ensuring accuracy of our financial records;
  • Review/Prepare monthly financial reports and communicate significant variances on a timely basis, including coordinating adjustments when needed;
  • Plan and coordinate the activities related to the annual budget and monthly forecasting process;
  • Coordinate periodic financial reviews/audits with outside audit and tax firms as required;
  • Provides all necessary information to outside advisers in conjunction with the filing of federal, state, and local tax returns for the business and trusts;
  • Develop recommendations and implement improvements to internal controls processes striving to build a more robust Accounting and Finance department;
  • Participate as a strategic business partner on cross functional teams to help drive organization efficiency, effectiveness, and continuous improvement;
  • Support M&A activities including due diligence, Earnings analysis work, purchase price accounting, and integration;
  • Support managing the Financial Consolidation software;
  • Lead process improvement projects across Finance, Accounting, and IT;
  • Provide accounting and financial guidance to Operating Companies and CFO including developing accounting talent in the organization

SWE is part of Scottish Widows, a 100% subsidiary of LBG and a strong life and pension company in the UK. Its product range includes life assurance, pensions, investments and savings. The company has been providing financial services to the UK market since 1815. The company sells products through independent financial advisers, direct to customers and through LBG bank branches. Scottish Widows employs around 3,000 people.

Scottish Widows Europe was established in Luxembourg to ensure continuity of servicing for its existing EU business after the UK’s exit from the EU, and is authorized to conduct run-off insurance business in Europe (“SWE”).

What we need from you:
  • Bachelor degree in a relevant Finance discipline
  • 5-10 years of financial experience (in Finance industry, Insurance environment preferred)
  • 2-4 years of Supervisory experience preferred
  • Advanced accounting knowledge and skills
  • Previous financial Accounting/Consolidation software experience (Hyperion, Adaptive, etc.) preferred
  • Able to manage multiple projects with varying but stringent deadlines
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, able to effectively interact with various levels of the organization
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • At ease with standard MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.) and Adobe tools, willingness to learn and use more specific IT tools (including built-in software);
  • Proficient in French and English, German or Italian would be a plus;
  • Keen to suggest new ideas and implement pragmatic and workable solutions.
