Job description

What you will do in your working day

This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in in all aspects of our various fire detection, suppression and prevention systems. You will be an integral part of ensuring that our clients' facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art fire safety measures.

As an Apprentice Systems Technician, you will work alongside our technicians commissioning, maintaining and troubleshooting systems.

As you will be travelling between site, a driving licence would be required.

The training you will be getting

Formal training is delivered at  HWGTA located in Worcester (WR4 9GN):

Duration approximately 40-45 months.

Year 1 includes 26-42 weeks off the job training to cover practical and theory aspects.

Year 2 would include 1 day per week to complete EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Development Knowledge.

Years 2,3&4 will be based in company developing skills in preparation for the end point assessment to gain your Engineering Technician Mechatronics Level 3 qualification.

You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment.

Additional training for functional skills in English and maths will be undertaken if needed.

There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on programme.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Once qualified there will be an opportunity to progress within the company as a service/commissioning technician.
