Job description
The Permanent Division of Robert Half is currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant on behalf of a manufacturer company in Bedford.
The Role
Our client is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team ahead of our programme launch later in the year. This is an exciting time for an ambitious individual to join the team on a permanent basis as they transition into customer markets. This role would suit an ACCA/CIMA/ACA studier who is comfortable working in a rapidly changing and sometimes challenging environment, who has well rounded accounting knowledge and strong fundamentals. They would also have strong organisational and people skills. Prior experience in similar roles is essential and experience with Xero is preferred.
The day to day duties of the Finance Assistant will consist of:
- Assisting with the preparation of Statutory Accounts under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Assisting with the preparation of the Corporation Tax pack
- Assisting with the preparation of R&D Tax Claims
- Assisting with the preparation of payroll for 60 employees each month
- Supporting with the annual external audit by preparing the requested accounting schedules and liaising with the auditors
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly Management Accounts, including Accruals, Prepayments and Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Daily downloading of purchases invoices, credit notes, supplier statements and other correspondence
- Regularly liaising with cost centre owners to ensure invoices and purchase orders are approved in a timely manner
- Processing potentially large volumes of invoices and credit notes into Xero
- Reconciling supplier statements to the purchase ledger accounts and requesting any invoices that are identified as missing
- Weekly bank reconciliations
- Monthly processing of the company credit card statements
- Maintenance of the invoice register to support month-end accruals
- Creation of the weekly supplier payment proposal
- Regularly liaising with procurement to ensure timely amendments to purchase orders
- Regularly monitor Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNIs) and request the required invoice from the supplier, if not already received
- Daily matching of GRNIs in Insight123
- Maintenance of the supplier and customer accounts
Key accountabilities:
- Assisting with the preparation of Financial Accounts and various taxes
- Assisting with the Management Accounts
- Assisting with the preparation of Payroll the supplier, if not already received
- Ownership of the Accounts Payable process
- Assistance with the month-end process.
Your Profile
- Active ACCA/CIMA/ACA studier
- Strong accounting fundamentals and people skills with the ability to create and maintain relationships.
- Ambitious, driven, hardworking and organised with good attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, influencing and relationship building skills
- To have that 'can do' attitude and desire to push themselves
- experience of using Microsoft Office
Salary and Benefits
The Salary for the role of an Accounts Assistant will be paying up to £40k based on experience and skill sets. Hybrid working minimum with 1 day in the office per week but as the task requires
