Strabane & District Caring Services is a community-based non-profit organisation providing domiciliary health care and other services to the community. The Domiciliary Care Worker will work as part of a team providing personal, domestic and social care at home to vulnerable individuals (including frail elderly, those with physical and learning disabilities and mental health) in the community. Strabane & District Caring Services has Full-time (20 hour) contracts available for Domiciliary Care Workers to provide care in the community in the Cityside & Waterside areas of Derry/Londonderry .

Responsibilities

• Providing domiciliary health care and other services to the community.
• Work as part of a team to provide personal and domestic care.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• A full valid driving licence and access to transport for work purposes.
• Good written and oral communication.
• Work as part of a team.
• Understanding of health and safety in the workplace.
• Able to promote dignity and respect in care delivery.
• Carers must be flexible and able to cover additional hours when necessary promote dignity and respect in care delivery.
• Able to promote and deliver personal care.

Desirable Skills

• 6 months experience in formal care setting.
• NVQ level 2 in Care or equivalent.
• NISCC registered or willing to undertake if successful.
• Knowledge of domiciliary care minimum standards.

Further Information

Work time: To be confirmed. Morning/lunch 7am-2pm, Afternoons 2pm-7pm and Nights 7pm-11pm. Successful applicants must be willing to carry out Access NI check. Having a criminal conviction will not necessarily prohibit you from working with Strabane & District Caring Services. This will depend on the information provided and obtained from disclosure certificate, as well as the position applied for. To be confirmed at interview.
