Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for transforming HR operations and driving organizational excellence? Slough Borough Council is seeking a Head of HR Operations to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our council and delivering top–notch services to our 1,000–strong team.

At Slough Borough Council, we are committed to public service reform and delivering value to our residents. As the Head of HR Operations, you will be a key player in our HR Management Team, reporting directly to the Director of HR & Workforce Transformation.

What you'll be doing:

• Lead and manage an effective HR Operations service, taking accountability for planning, finance, performance, people, change, and risk management.
• Contribute to the service plan, preparing team plans that align with the wider HR&OD service area.
• Provide high–quality HR services to 1,000 staff, including recruitment, contracts, onboarding, payroll, pensions, and leavers.
• Organize and prioritize work to support self–service, allowing HR officers to focus on complex cases.
• Drive continuous improvement in service quality, efficiency, and customer experience through innovation and new technologies.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams to plan, procure, and implement commercial arrangements with suppliers.

What you'll have:

• Professional qualification and full membership of CIPD or equivalent.
• Substantial management experience leading high–performing HR services.
• Excellent workforce planning, workload management, and demand management skills.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to work collaboratively across organizational boundaries.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent problem–solving skills and judgment.
