About the role
We are seeking a proven Lead Project Manager/Head of PMO with experience operating in a leadership role and managing a team, gained within a digital/software environment. You will be highly proficient in Agile and have experience of mentoring fellow PMs in Agile methodologies.
Working within a successful and growing digital agency, this is a visible and influential role that will require hands-on management of complex client workstreams/programmes, as well as leading the Project Management team.
You will be responsible for building on the Ways of Working already established within the team, to create and implement a strategy for the Project team that is in line with not only the department goals but the wider business goals.

Hours: Full time role, based on 37.5 hours per week.
Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne (3/2 hybrid working).
As the head of project management you will:
- Manage a team of Project Managers
- Review, evaluate and provide visibility to leadership of ongoing issues/risks/progress across client delivery
- Managing workstreams/projects/programmes to time, budget and quality, and maintaining the governance to ensure this can be done effectively across all client work
- Holding positive productive relationships with client stakeholders and their delivery counterparts
- Manage Risks, Issues and scope changes effectively
- Leading by example within the department and ensuring your team have the tools and training necessary
- Building on existing Ways of Working to create and implement a strategy for the Project team that is in line with not only the department goals but the wider business goals.
Our ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate the following experience:
- 5+ years' experience as a Project Manager and proven experience leading fellow Project Managers
- Excellent understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices, and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
- A proven track record of successfully delivering complex digital and technical workstreams/programmes/projects.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple workstreams at a given time.
- Experience with overseeing multi-functional project teams that include UX, Creative, Developers and QA Personnel.
- Proven experience in budgetary control and stakeholder reporting.
- Proven experience in compiling scope of requirements documents, progress reports and change control documents.
- The ability to meet with clients and confidently drive face to face meetings.
- Help to support the wider client services team.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels.
- Strong analytical, planning, and organisational skills with an ability to manage competing client demands.
- Best practice understanding of, and demonstrated experience, in using appropriate tools, such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project and all Office tools.
