Job description

Location: Bristol, BS4
Days & Hours: Bank hours to be covered on an ad-hoc basis to attend events and activities.

Pay: £13.00 per hour Weekdays, £14.00 per hour Weekends and Bank Holidays

Driver required? Essential (will need own car to get to work and transport client)
Using Own Vehicle for work purposes? Yes,will need own car whilst on duty and will be expected to drive client in own vehicle. Business insurance therefore required.
Essential Experience: Working with adults with acquired brain injury.
Desirable: Experience working with adults with trauma and an interest in computer coding.
Pets: 2 Cats

Our client, born in 1999 lives at home with his parents. His interests are gaming, mainly around coding and multi-server games and has a network of peers with whom he plays online with (Minecraft servers) and he has even developed 'plug-ins' to sell to other users and supports peers that may have coding issues. Our client also enjoys go-karting with his Dad, live music (Twenty-one Pilots and AJR are his favourite). He has recently secured a full-time job with a local authority.

Our client has an acquired brain injury, ongoing orthopedic intervention, and has Epilepsy (although he has not had a seizure for a few years). He has mobility issues and can only walk for a short time and sometimes requires help mobilising, especially on stairs and uneven terrain. He may require some pain relief if indicated by the client. He can have difficulty with his fine motor skills, making fastenings and buttons hard to do up, he struggles with handwriting but has great confidence when touch typing.

Your role as a Buddy will be to assist our client to participate in, enjoy and achieve success in a range of leisure activities. To work with him following specific directions, providing guidance and using own initiative. Offering companionship and enabling our client to be more independent.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated person to support this very special young man. A truly rewarding role for someone who is able to communicate effectively with an ability to work with patience, tact, understanding, warmth and compassion.

Pay and Benefits:
£13.00 per hour Weekdays and £14.00 per hour Weekends and Bank Holidays
On-going training & support provided
5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata
Free DBS check.
