Senior Planning Engineer - Maritime based in UAE, would be responsible for overseeing and managing various aspects of port infrastructure and operations.
Your new role, what's involved?
- Lead the development of comprehensive master plans for port facilities, considering factors such as current and projected traffic volumes, vessel sizes, cargo types, and environmental considerations.
- Oversee the design and development of landside infrastructure, including roads, railroads, truck terminals, parking facilities, and intermodal connections to ensure efficient movement of cargo and passengers.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, port authorities, engineering consultants, contractors, and community groups, to gather input, address concerns, and facilitate consensus on project objectives and designs.
- Conduct feasibility studies to assess the economic, technical, and environmental viability of proposed port expansion or improvement projects.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project delays, cost overruns, and environmental impacts.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, permits, and industry standards related to port development, environmental protection, and safety.
- Integrate principles of sustainability into port planning and design, including minimizing carbon emissions, reducing energy consumption, and preserving natural habitats.
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and financial projections for port development projects, and monitor expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Explore and incorporate innovative technologies, such as automation, digitization, and data analytics, to enhance the efficiency, safety, and resilience of port operations.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and technological advancements in port planning and engineering, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in processes and methodologies.
- Engage with the public through outreach initiatives, public hearings, and community meetings to communicate project objectives, solicit feedback, and address concerns.
- Implement QA/QC procedures to ensure that designs meet technical specifications, performance requirements, and industry best practices.
- Prepare progress reports, technical documentation, presentations, and other deliverables to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 12-15 years of on-site experience in Maritime Engineering, with a focus on construction oversight.
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification is advantageous.
- Strong project management skills and experience with on-site coordination.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in on-site construction.
