We are looking for an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer who is aspiring to take on their next challenging role as Engineering Manager - Mechanical providing technical leadership to project teams.
As part of our growing team based in our UK headquarters in Farnborough, you will have the opportunity to work on projects that are both technologically complex and in challenging locations, providing unique opportunities for career stretch and personal development. While this position is initially based in Farnborough, Fluor is a global company so international travel and assignments may be required in the future.
Basic Job Requirements
About the job
The successful candidate will be required to apply their extensive Mechanical Lead knowledge to lead Fluor Farnborough mechanical engineering team in project execution by using their technical expertise based upon design office and construction experiences on major and complex projects, plus their outstanding communication and leadership skills.
Candidates are expected to be able to demonstrate:
- Dynamic leadership style, being prepared to push the boundaries when necessary
- A proven track record as lead mechanical engineer in major Energy and Chemical projects in FEED and EPC phases.
- Experience of being able too hire, motivate and inspire staff
- Ability to mentor and keen to share knowledge and experience, assisting with training other engineers by providing instruction on new technologies or specialisations
- Ability to lead a team of specialists consisting of rotating equipment, pressure vessels, heat exchangers fired equipment, packaged equipment and materials.
- Experience with cost estimates, schedule development, technical reviews, preparation of design specifications, datasheets, requisitions, bid summaries and purchase orders.
- HSE leadership
- Ability to cultivate and maintain positive Client relationships
- Experience of project review meetings
- Positive Interface with office management and global leadership
Preferred Qualifications
• Professional registration and active participation in technical society
• Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials
• Advanced knowledge of equipment through all stages of a project from conceptual phase to design development, construction, and commissioning
• Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting
• Managing and leading a large project
• Project set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting and project close-out
• Practical field experience
• Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
