Responsibilities
- Offer one-on-one support to students with special educational needs, both in the classroom and during other school activities.
- Aid in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
- Adapt teaching materials and resources to cater to the individual needs and abilities of students.
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement effective support strategies.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
- Facilitate the social, emotional, and academic development of students with special needs.
- Assist with personal care tasks, such as feeding, toileting, and mobility, as required.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
Requirements
- Prior experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
- A relevant qualification in Special Educational Needs or a related field.
- Knowledge of various special educational needs, their impact on learning, and appropriate support strategies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the learning and development of students with special needs.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow guidance from teachers and other professionals.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the individual needs of students.
