Job description
A reputable construction firm located in the heart of Blaydon, recognised for their commitment to excellence in the construction industry. They are in search of a meticulous and proactive Assistant Accountant to support their financial department. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records and reports, and it requires effective collaboration with Quantity Surveyors to ensure the financial integrity of our projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of financial documents such as invoices, bills, accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchase orders, payroll, reports, and other financial records for entry into computer software.
- Work closely with Quantity Surveyors to track and report project costs and ensure that financial data is accurately represented.
- Conduct regular ledger maintenance and reconcile bank statements.
- Support the Management Accountant in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings.
- Assist with other accounting projects in the office.
- Track and maintain inventory records.
- Maintain a filing system for all financial documents.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all financial files.
- Perform administrative and other tasks as needed to support the accounting department.
Requirements
- Ideally AAT Qualified
- Proven work experience as an Assistant Accountant or similar role.
- Familiarity with basic Accounting principles.
- Professional manner and a strong ethical code.
- Ability to multitask and remain motivated and positive.
- Commitment to working efficiently and accurately.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and knowledge of accounting software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to collaborate with a diverse team, including Quantity Surveyors and other construction professionals.
