We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our thriving ecommerce platform team. As a Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, conducting financial analysis, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making. Working closely with our CFO, this role requires a strong foundation in financial accounting principles, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

This role is open to candidates within a commutable distance of London. Our team currently works hybrid with a central London office in Soho.

Responsibilities

  1. Oversee and assist with the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  2. Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports.
  3. Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and regulatory requirements, and participate in audits as necessary.
  4. Assist in the implementation and improvement of financial systems, processes, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  5. Assist with direct and indirect tax filing requirements across all of our entities, including UK, EU, US and Australia. 
  6. Stay updated with accounting standards, industry regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and recommend process improvements as necessary.
  7. Owning our IFRS conversation project

Requirements

  1. Final stage or qualified in a professional accounting qualification. ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent.
  2. Proven work experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role, preferably in an ecommerce or tech related business.
  3. Solid understanding of financial accounting principles, standards, and practices (e.g., GAAP).

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

  1. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights, particularly with large data sets.
  2. Excellent knowledge of accounting software and tools (particularly Xero and Excel).
  3. Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping and reporting.
  4. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to identify financial issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information in a clear and concise manner to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  6. Comfortable working both collaboratively and solo. Adept at prioritising tasks, and meeting deadlines in a scale-up environment.
  7. Knowledge of ecommerce marketplace dynamics, industry trends, and key financial metrics is a plus.
  8. Knowledge of or exposure to global direct and indirect tax would be an advantage.
  9. Experience leading on a FRS to IFRS conversion project
