Business and Community Development Officer - Mid and East Antrim Council - Public Sector

About the role: 

• Rate of pay: £ 17.59 ph 
• Hours of Work: 37 hours per week
• Duration of post: 31st March 2024 with a possible extension
• Location: Ballymena 
• Public Sector

Duties:

• Be a member of the team responsible for supporting behaviour change and the achievement of positive outcomes in both public protection (licensing) and wellbeing issues across the borough.
• Work in partnership with key stakeholders and other service providers within the business, community and voluntary sector to contribute to the achievement of Council’s vision for a growing and sustainable borough.
• Deliver health & wellbeing programmes, campaigns and initiatives within the borough and assist in the regulation of a wide range activities including public entertainment, street trading including pavement cafes, cinemas, caravan sites, road closures etc.

Criteria:

• Applicants must have a minimum of a third level qualification

2 years’ experience to include one in eitherof the following areas:-

• Wellbeing
• Physical and /or mental health and wellbeing
• Home/Fire safety
• Energy efficiency
• Fuel poverty
• Public Protection

• Regulatory experience or similar type role eg building control, fire safety, dog control, environmental health
• Use of Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Outlook and Powerpoint).
• A full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a vehicle OR have access to a form of transport

• Knowledge and understanding of legal / court procedures for dealing with licence applications, prosecutions, appeals, reviews etc.

A minimum of two of the following, or equivalent:

• City and Guilds level 3 Award in Energy Awareness or equivalent
• ROSPA An introduction to Home Safety
• ROSPA Older People Safety in the home
• ROSPA Child Safety in the Home
• ROSPA Choosing and Using Home Safety  Equipment
• Level 2 Award in Fire Risk Assessment
