Specialty Doctor - Urology

A vacancy has arisen for a substantive post of Specialty Doctor in Urology at the Bolton Centre for Urology. The new £4m build at Bolton Foundation Trust is a purpose-built unit for all the requirements of a modern urology facility fit for its future demands.

It has an excellent outpatients and diagnostics facility, encompassing flexible cystoscopy, prostate biopsy and urodynamics. All surgery is undertaken in a designated urological theatre and facilities exist for almost all forms of modern urology, including flexible ureterorenoscopy, PCNL, Holep, Rezum, core urology surgery and day surgery, which have its own designated day surgery ward within this unit.

The successful candidate will be required to provide and support urological services for Bolton FT. Duties will be carried out mainly at Bolton FT, with emergency duties that may include going to Wigan-Wrightington-Leigh (WWL) trust, which is our allied and neighbouring trust.

Duties will be carried out under the direction of the Consultant Urological Surgeons.

The Bolton centre for urology is delivered by four Consultant Urologists, with one specialist registrar, three specialty doctors and junior staff consisting of Core Training and Foundation doctors. The centre has one advanced Nurse practitioner along with clinical Nurse Specialists in benign and Uro-oncology supported by a nursing team for both nurse led clinics and its own theatre team supporting urology on call. We are a friendly and dynamic team and support excellent training facilities and opportunities in Uro-Oncology MDTs, Stone and Endourology MDT, combined Urology-Radiology-Nephrology meeting, Urology-Gynaecology Continence forum and specialty audit and governance meetings.

Bolton Foundation Trust recent CQC inspection has published its findings and the Trust has been rated good in overall standards.
