ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Technical Manager - Suspension you will collaborate with the Functional Manager to deliver our product ambitions and to shape our Beyond100 strategy.

Provides technical strategic leadership, in depth technical knowledge and guidance, to support and ensure achievement of business objectives and technical development, delivering on time and within budget.

You will be technical liaison with VW Group and supplier base in area of responsibility for current and future legislative and certification compliance.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Advancement of modelling, simulation and digital prototyping workstreams for area of responsibility.
• Responsibility for co-ordination of project task delivery between Engineers from the relevant functions and the Systems Engineering Project Team.
• Presentations to senior management and leadership in issue resolution co-ordinated with Hardware, Software, Calibration development and Systems Engineering teams.
• Agreeing and maintaining product emergence timing plans with Vehicle motion stakeholders and project team(s).
• Work with attribute owners to agree targets and determine status. Where shortfalls in target are evident, support content countermeasure decision.
• Support process inprovement and implementation.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will be a Suspension / Chassis engineer with demonstrable knowledge of design and development experience in the areas of springs, dampers, bushes and/or powertrain mounting. A degree or equivalent engineering experience is required for all engineering roles.

• Ability to share technical knowledge effectively with others.
• Make & influence strategic decisions within a business context.
• Experience of coaching, guiding and developing technical knowledge of others.
• Project delivery with NVH and Dynamics functions as key stakeholders.
• Knowledge and use of problem-solving tools and skills.
• Demonstrable communication skills at all levels including escalation and problem resolution.
