We're looking for a kind, compassionate and resilient Senior Manager - Financial Planning and Analysis to join located at our Head Office currently located in Westminster and moving to Caledonian Road this year.

What you'll do:
The Senior Manager - Financial Planning and Analysis will lead the Financial Planning and Budgeting process along with detail business analysis of the actual performance to enable the CFO, DoF and other Directors to make key business decisions.
The post holder will work alongside the Directors of Operations, Heads of Operations and wider SMT to provide relevant, effective and timely performance analysis with financial decision-making support.
The post holder will ensure the relevant information and reports are provided to help maintain the Look Ahead's financial performance and that the necessary guidance is provided to ensure appropriate decisions are made to manage the resource base and contract portfolio to achieve its Business and Operational Plans.
The post holder and the team will have a sound understanding of the business and the drivers of both income and costs, the growth strategy and expected to network across the organisation to build good relationships.
About you:
This is not an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that may be required from time to time and is subject to change in accordance with the needs of Look Ahead.
Build a model to produce the annual budget and forecasts with the ability to carry out what if scenarios to help the CFO and to make key decisions by SLT.
Understand complex financial planning issues and their implications to provide suitable options to support CFO and Executive management decision making.
Ensure that budgets, forecasts, business plans and financial analysis papers prepared are timely and accurate and meets the requirements of the CFO, CEO Committee/Boards.
Lead and coordinate the annual budgeting and forecast processes, working to deadlines as dictated by SLT and Board. Work closely with the Directors and Senior Managers to ensure the budgets reflect local business plans and key performance indicators are populated. It is important to help all budget holders to understand and be accountable for their budgets.
Lead on the production of the annual Look Ahead Group 30 year financial plan to include stress testing likely and extreme scenarios linked to Look Ahead's key financial and operational risks (bi- annual). Provide options for mitigating these risks and model the outputs of mitigating actions in the financial plan.
Ensure that Look Ahead's planning and financial forecasting models meet all of its needs (from long term projections to detailed annual budgets) and are backed up with a Balance Sheet and a Cash Flow Projection
Prepare quality and timely analysis of business performance focusing on emerging trends and risks to help to take necessary action.
Provide financial input and analysis for Risk Panel papers for SLT consideration.
Lead on the financial evaluation of new business opportunities and their impact on Look Ahead's long term financial viability.
Develop and maintain investment appraisal models for future capital programmes. Provide financial option appraisals to support decision making at Look Ahead's Risk Panel for Senior Leadership Team (SLT) consideration. Monitor spend against the project financial plan. Prepare post-development project analysis, monitoring return on investment.
Prepare and submit the Financial Forecast Return (FFR) and any other return to the regulator and other stakeholders on request of the CFO / DoF.
As a Senior Manager, promote the work of the whole of Look Ahead and lead by example. Comply with Look Ahead's policies, procedures and Code of Conduct. Maintain and develop effective external networks and ensure that staff at all levels maintain good working relationships internally and externally.
Make a positive contribution as a member of the Senior Finance Team.
Line manage the "management accountant" through regular 121s and help to widen the experience, enduring they have a stretching but achievable set of objectives and provide regular constructive feedback to support them improve.
To take on any other finance or planning related projects on request of the CFO
What you'll bring:
Previous experience of planning and budgeting and delivery of key reports in a large organisation.
Be capable of managing (sideways and upwards) senior individuals across multiple disciplines and have extensive, demonstrable people management experience and a clear understanding of the people implications and people agenda on the success of the business.
Financial expertise to understand requirements, produce reports, provide financial analysis and to identify underperformance and risks.
Confident, ability to lead, and communicate with others to influence business decisions and financial performance.
