Job description
Robert Half is working alongside an instantly recognisable global manufacturing business based in Milton Keynes in their pursuit of a new Head of Compliance & Facilities.
As Head of Compliance & Facilities, your role is to provide a commercially focused compliance, buildings and equipment service, in support of the company's strategic objectives. Manage, maintain and co-ordinate the process and structure for procurement, supplier management, contract management and legislative compliance across the business.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
Compliance
- Maintaining a strong working relationship with Company external legal advisors, growing own knowledge of compliance matters. Filter the contact with legal advisors, referring as necessary, dependent on risk, complexity and cost considerations.
Risk Management
- Accountable for the Compliance and Facilities Risk Registers
- Regularly monitor and update seeking to mitigate risks and manage them through strong controls
- Act as business continuity controller in the event of the disaster recovery plan being invoked
Insurance
- Lead relationship with insurance brokerage service for all corporate insurance.
- Point of contact for business for all insurance queries
- Manage renewal processes with support from Corporate Operations team.
Data Protection
- The role holder is expected to act as the Company Data Protection Officer (DPO)
- To maintain expert knowledge of data protection law and practices, to ensure that the company complies with the requirements of the EU GDPR and UK Data Protection Act 2018 and relevant regulations.
FCA Responsibilities
To hold the position of Senior Management Function SMF 16 (Compliance Oversight) with the FCA and be responsible for compliance with FCA regulations, reporting up to SMF3 and SMF1 post holders (board of directors). In addition, acts as Consumer Duty Champion for the company, advising the Board on status and progress towards ensuring they achieve the best results under the four Consumer Duty Outcomes:
Facilities
- Lead the business in its environmental activities, sourcing and implementing best practice policies and procedures
- Strategic planning and 5 year CAPEX/Building plan to future proof site (examples include EV charging, solar installations, heating and ventilation system improvements)
- Budget CAPEX and Revenue and Expenditure
Procurement
To oversee the legal services for the Company with respect to procurement, contract and tender process, and contract management:
- Oversee the work of the Procurement Manager in relation to company tenders and vendor management and in line with company procurement framework.
- Ensure fairness and transparency in all procurement functions and processes.
- Hold Conflicts of Interest Register
Company Car Scheme
- To oversee the work of the Company Car Co-ordinator in relation to all company car scheme matters, escalating upwards any issues.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Experience in a legal, risk or compliance role
- Good understanding of data privacy legislation and a willingness to undertake training to become DPO
- Contract review/negotiation experience or a willingness to undertake training to become competent in this area
- Significant budget management experience/financial acumen
- Strong people leadership skills
- Genuine interest in leading and managing a team of differing disciplines/areas of expertise
- In accordance with the requirements of the Financial Conduct Authority the job holder must be of good repute, that is, they must have a clean criminal record and also not been previously declared bankrupt, unless rehabilitated in accordance with national law.
Desirable:
- Qualified DPO
- Understanding of the FCA SMF 16 requirements and willing to train as required
- Experience in a similar role within fast-moving consumer goods industry
- Experience within a franchised business model
Salary & Benefits
The role of Head of Compliance & Facilities is offered with a salary of up to £70,000 with company benefits, and will be based in Milton Keynes with Hybrid working.
