Fire & Gas Technician
Location: Aberdeen

As a Fire & Gas Technician, your activities will include the following:
- Ensure to utilise installation layout drawings, P&ID’s, C&E matrices etc. as required to identify equipment locations or types.
- Execute work as part of a planned maintenance programme ensuring that all work history is recorded accurately.
- Execute corrective maintenance repairs on all F&G systems, circuits and field devices
- Carry out function testing of fire and gas detectors iaw C&E matrix, report defects to maintenance supervisor
- Where required and technically possible, carry out adjustments and calibration of detectors
- Demonstrate good working knowledge of F&G Detectors, Catalytic Gas Detectors, Infra-red, LOS, H2S detectors, Heat / Smoke Detection and Deluge systems
- Ensure work carried out conforms to statutory regulations and that all tools or equipment are safe and suitable for use.
- Ensure authorised Permit to Work Systems and isolations are in place before commencement of work and are cleared on completion before reinstatement.
- Ensure all ATEX rated equipment located in Hazardous Areas is in good condition iaw EN 60079 standard.
- Adopt safe-working practices at all times and, where appropriate, in accordance with the Company’s Operating Procedures.
- Capable of assemble, install, carry out preventative maintenance, repair, diagnose faults and remove and replace F&G systems and their associated system components.
- Understand the preparation and reinstatement requirements in respect of the work area, materials and equipment, and the possible consequences of incorrect actions in these areas with particular attention to isolations and inhibits.
- Understand their responsibilities for ensuring the care and security of tools and equipment used.
- Be able to handle a range of digital information, technology and equipment to support work related tasks and to communicate information.
- Ability to perform Assurance Dry and Wet Deluge testing activities.
- Properly document and accurately report all maintenance, configurations, repairs, overhauls, adjustments and inspections
Key Skills / Qualifications / Competencies: -
- Good understanding of practical and theoretical principles of F&G Detection systems and equipment.
- Previous knowledge of ISSOW Permit to Work system.
- Previous experience and willing to undertake Performing Authority and Isolating Authority duties as per competency systems.
- Previous experience or knowledge in use of Maximo
- Good communication skills.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic when working as part of a team or equally as well on own initiative.
- Educated to NVQ or SVQ level 3 or equivalent standard and completion of a recognized Instrument or Electrical apprenticeship scheme.
- Mandatory Offshore Certification (BOSIET, MIST, Medical, etc)
- COMPEX EN60079 Hazardous Areas
- SBT01/02
- Emergency Response Training
- Permit to work training, ie Performing/Isolating Authority
