Job description
As a vital member of the Commercial department, the Network Manager will actively contribute to the
strategic planning and optimisation of the bus network for Brighton & Hove. Collaborating closely with the
planning team, your responsibilities include retrieving analytics, generating reports and implementing
initiatives to enhance the Commercial Network’s efficiency while elevating the reliability of existing services.
Your role will entail maintaining a vigilant evaluation of the network, ensuring optimal utilisation of current
resources and exploring opportunities for expansion within the commercial network. In this capacity, you play
a key role in shaping and refining the transportation landscape to meet the evolving needs of our community.

You will need:
• Proven experience in network planning, optimisation, and management within the transportation or related industry
(relevant certifications would be advantageous)
• Demonstrated ability to retrieve, analyse, and interpret data to make informed decisions in network planning and
improvement
• Track record of contributing to and implementing strategic plans for transportation networks, considering factors such as
efficiency, reliability and expansion
• Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including government bodies, to achieve alignment with
broader community objectives
• Experience in budget planning and management, ensuring cost-effective implementation of network plans
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and lead initiatives to achieve common goals (completion of
leadership training programs or courses showing management skills advantageous)
Knowledge of:
• Transportation regulations: In-depth knowledge of local and regional transportation regulations and compliance
requirements
• Market trends: Understanding of market trends, customer preferences, and industry developments relevant to public
transportation
• Geographical knowledge: Familiarity with the geography and demographics of the service area to optimise route planning
and resource allocation
• Technology proficiency: Knowledge of relevant tools and technologies used in network planning, including Geographic
Information System (GIS) software
• Financial acumen: Knowledge of financial principles related to budgeting, cost analysis, and resource allocation in the
context of transportation network management
