Are you ready to take the wheel and lead a dynamic transport management team? We're seeking a motivated and experienced Transport Manager to oversee our fleet of LGVs, radial delivery vans, and company cars across multiple UK locations.
You will be based at our distribution centre EMDC in Castle Donington, however travel to other sites will be required.
The role holder will be added on to the operator’s licences for Buy It Direct, and be responsible for ensuring compliance to DVLA standards at all sites
Key Responsibilities: • Compliance: Ensure adherence to DVLA standards, manage O Licence undertakings, and oversee safety, health, environment, and quality protocols.
• Commercial: Control of commercials including maintenance, damage, and fuel consumption cost per mile, trailer utilisation, margin, and HGV driver cost per hour.
• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement cost-effective strategies to optimise fleet utilisation, minimise maintenance costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a your team covering distribution planning, vehicle maintenance, and operational compliance.
• Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify and implement operational improvements to drive cost reductions and service enhancements.
• Effective Communication: Build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations and achieve organisational goals.
Requirements: • Leadership Skills: Capable communicator with conflict resolution abilities and a "can-do" attitude.
• Compliance Expertise: CPC qualification and a comprehensive understanding of transport industry compliance.
• Strategic Thinker: Ability to interpret data, generate insights, and drive informed decision-making. Must be solutions driven, and able to piece together 3PL and own account distribution components to provide the services.
• Flexibility: The ability to work under pressure within a busy transport environment, with an understanding that the responsibilities can extend beyond a standard working day.
• Maintenance: An understanding of road transport engineering would be an advantage, in order to effectively manage the fleet repair and maintenance budget
• Systems: Experience in a range of MS Office packages and workflow systems.
• Customer Focus: Build positive relationships with customers and suppliers to deliver exceptional service.
• Continuous Learner: Open to refreshing qualifications and staying updated on industry trends.
