As a Principal AI Engineer, you will lead the creation of thrilling, engaging, and competitive AI systems. You will work closely with our world-class design team to iterate and enhance these systems to deliver scalable and accessible AI opponents across all skill levels. Your passion for gaming AI will drive the team towards higher quality and promote code excellence through mentoring and leadership.
Key Duties Include
- Work closely with the design team to implement genre-leading AI systems for player interaction and competition
- Take ownership of planning and executing large bodies of work, ensuring quality and innovation
- Support less experienced team members, mentoring them, and raising the standards of the whole Engineering team
- Proactively seek opportunities to improve the quality of AI systems and overall game development
- Actively contribute to our collaborative and creative team environment, fostering innovation and cooperation
Requirements
- Extensive experience developing AI Systems on multiple AAA console/PC titles
- Advance knowledge of gaming AI methodologies, including Behaviour Trees/FSM, navigation techniques, and physics-based gameplay mechanics
- Demonstrable experience in Vehicle-based AI
- Exceptional proficiency in C++, encompassing profiling, debugging and optimizing code
- Solid understanding of code architecture best practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to plan and meet scheduled goals independently
- Strong interest in AI and its application within and beyond video games
- Passion for games and game development
Desirable
- Experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5 on a AAA title, including scripting with Blueprints
- Aptitude for crafting challenging and enjoyable AI experiences
- Experience mentoring other Engineers
- Experience working on current-generation consoles
- Familiarity with building data-driven features
- Proficiency in multi-threaded programming
