Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK's largest private hospitals, with 8 state-of-the-art facilities, and circa 1350 employees where we are dedicated to providing our patients with expert, individualised treatment and care. Our main hospital spans 8 floors comprising of 150+ patient beds and 10 operating theatres, including a Hybrid theatre and two minimally invasive/day surgery theatres. Speciality areas include, General surgery; ENT; Gynaecology; Hepatobiliary; Neuro-spinal; Ophthalmic; Orthopaedic; Plastic and reconstructive; Robotic; Urology; Vascular & Weight loss surgery (bariatric surgery).

The Procurement team provide professional procurement expertise, advice and services across the organisation ensuring value for money is achieved, whilst fundamentally supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care. Procurement includes:

• The Purchasing Team
• The Sourcing Team
• The Supply Chain Team
• The Electronic and Bio-Medical Engineering (EBME) Team

Job Profile

As Medical Devices Manager / Medical Devices Safety Officer (MDSO) you will be responsible for the management of medical devices/equipment at The London Clinic. The remit will include managing the preventative maintenance, calibration and repair functions related to medical devices. You will manage the medical equipment asset register and work with the Procurement team in sourcing new equipment as well as replacements in line with the capital replacement program. As Medical Devices Manager / Medical Devices Safety Officer (MDSO) you will be responsible for coordinating The London Clinic's responses to Medical Device Field Safety Notices, Field Safety Corrective-Action Notices and Central Alerting System (CAS) Alerts.

• Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.
• Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday
• Job Location: 1 Park Square West, London, W1G 6BW (Close to Regents Park/Baker St tube stations). This role will offer a hybrid working approach
• Salary: The attractive inclusive salary for this role starts from £57,960 inclusive per annum, and will be dependent upon skills and experience.

Key Duties

• Responsible for the managing the Senior Biomedical Engineers, Biomedical Engineer and the EBME Coordinator their associated responsibilities.
• Arrange and carry out spot checks and/or audits to confirm ongoing compliance with MHRA & CAS alerts & "ensuring corrective actions have been taken".
• Working with the Procurement Managers to undertake sourcing activities, including evaluating equipment, that meets the clinics needs and delivers reduced lifetime costs.
• Participate in Supplier Performance Reviews and actively work on ways to consolidate suppliers without compromising quality in terms of service delivery.
• Advise on departmental spend for Medical Equipment Servicing & Maintenance for inclusion in the annual Budget planning activities. To review planned spend versus actual spend for the minor equipment maintenance budget.
• As the named MDSO ensure that contact details are logged with the relevant bodies as the Primary point of contact for any Medical Equipment related notices and alerts. e. main contact for NHS England, MHRA, National Medical Devices Safety Network and CQC.

Skills & Experience

• Extensive previous experience working in a medical-technical field.
• Experience working with Medical Devices
• Educated to degree level in an engineering or related discipline.
• Management experience, communicating at all levels of an organisation.
• Experience of working with external contractors and suppliers and building of relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
