MacKenzie King are delighted to be recruiting a Purchase Ledger Controller for a well-known developer in the Colchester area. As the Purchase Ledger Controller, you will play an integral part within the business by taking ownership of the purchase ledger function and its maintenance, whilst also being on hand to support other areas within finance, as assigned by the Finance Director.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Ensuring all elements within the purchase to pay process are administered and maintained in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
- Working with the finance team and other business areas as needed, to ensure smooth running of the purchase ledger process.
- Supporting company cashflow efficiency in the timing of payment runs.
- Responsibility for obtaining final energy invoices for newly completed plots.
- Reconciling supplier and subcontractor statements and resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Maintaining the purchase ledger email inboxes and responding to supplier queries as needed.
- Assisting other finance team members as and when required.
- Supporting the Finance Director with any annual audit or other supplier reporting requirements.
- Monitoring and suggesting improvements in the purchase to pay process when appropriate.
- Other ad hoc duties as assigned by the Finance Director.
Qualifications and experience
- You will have a minimum of two years’ experience working in a related finance role and must have experience of a working in a purchase ledger function.
- Knowledge of the purchase to pay process from start to finish across the business and how the finance team and other departments impact this.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload.
- IT proficient, with a good understanding of MS Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams) systems.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to investigate and resolve issues.
- Previous experience of the construction industry including knowledge of CIS and VAT is desirable.
