SEN Secondary Teaching Assistant - Lewes
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEN Secondary Teaching Assistant to join our team and support the academic and social development of students with diverse learning requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Individualized Support: Provide tailored assistance to students with SEN, ensuring that their unique learning needs are addressed in both academic and non-academic settings.
- Collaborative Planning: Work closely with classroom teachers and SEN coordinators to develop and implement effective strategies to support students with SEN in mainstream classes.
- Adaptation of Materials: Modify teaching materials to suit the individual learning styles and abilities of students with SEN, fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Behavioral Support: Implement behavior management strategies and interventions to create a positive and supportive atmosphere for students, promoting their emotional well-being.
- Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Assist in the assessment of students' progress, collaborating with teachers to identify areas of improvement and adapting support accordingly.
- Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents, teachers, and other professionals involved in the care and education of students with SEN.
Requirements:
- SEN Experience: Proven experience working with students with Special Educational Needs in a secondary school setting.
- Understanding of SEN Legislation: Familiarity with relevant legislation and frameworks governing Special Educational Needs, ensuring compliance and best practices.
- Patience and Empathy: Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other professionals to create a cohesive support system for students.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt teaching strategies and materials to meet the evolving needs of students with SEN.
- Communication Skills: Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate positive interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.
