Job title: Project Health Safety Environment Manager
Location: Portgordon, Scotland, United Kingdom (On-site)
TGRC is excited to partner with a leading anaerobic digestion and Biogas Production company in the UK, headquartered in Scotland. As they expand, they seek to bolster their team by adding a Project Health Safety Environment Manager.
As an integral team member within the Compliance Department, you will collaborate with the Operational & Engineering Teams at our Moray Hub Sites (Portside/Beyside/Coreside in Portgordon and Riverside in Dufftown). Your role encompasses day-to-day management, mentoring, and coaching of all employees on Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance.
The monthly reports you provide will contribute to the overall business reports, and offer a reflective account of the current safety and environmental performance.
Assist the Head of Compliance and the Safety Leader in delivering the SHEQ Strategy and associated Local Action Plans, aligning with the compliance roadmap.
In addition, it plays a pivotal role in shaping the future developments of the business compliance roadmaps.
Proactively drive positive safety cultural change by setting high safety expectations and encouraging others through coaching and mentoring, creating a safer working environment.
Champion the rollout of the company's 2-year compliance roadmap at the site level, holding relevant stakeholders accountable for successful implementation.
Maintain contact with official and professional bodies such as SEPA, HSE, Environmental Health Officers, Fire Authorities, IOSH, and other safety organizations.
Additionally, Compliance Audits and Inspections
Furthermore, conduct monthly internal compliance audits of site(s), report findings, and ensure actions are regularly reviewed to completion.
Conduct health and safety inspections on identified focus areas, review and update COSHH assessments, and prepare required reports and documents.
Ensure compliance with PPC permit conditions through report writing, submission, and auditing against permit conditions.
Support and lead investigations into accidents and near-miss incidents, record findings, and collaborate with site teams for immediate containment and effective corrective actions.
Contractor Management and Relationships
Oversee strong working relationships with operations staff, support the development of company Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), and ensure contractors meet necessary due diligence.
Furthermore, conduct and review contractor documentation (SSOW) for medium/high-risk activities.
Foster an ethos within the site(s) that safety and accident prevention are integral to business and operational efficiency.
Identify areas requiring training/certification to meet standards imposed by Legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, or HSE guidance,
In addition, conduct/organize relevant health and safety training for staff.
Monitor safety performance using leading, lagging, and PSP indicators, implementing practical methods to promote safe working practices.
Identify areas for improvement and collaborate with the site leadership team to address gaps/non-conformances identified during emergency response scenario exercises.
Ensure regular review of policies and risk assessments as required by legislation, maintaining records, and providing training and guidance to staff.
Collaborate with other compliance team members to ensure a consistent approach to policies across the business and implement the delivery of the Safety Management System (GDMS).
