The Role
As a Junior Datacentre Support Technician, you will be at the centre of the operational team underpinning the customer experience of the KAO KLON-1 & KLON-2 datacentres based in London Road in Harlow. Supported by our more senior team members, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in this balanced technical and customer success orientated role.
Main working hours are generally 09:00 - 17:00 Monday - Friday, but occasionally, duties will need to be performed outside of these hours. Additionally, you will be required to participate in an on-call rota for which additional remuneration will be paid.
Duties to include
- Being hands and eyes for remote customers – undertaking tasks such as server reboots, cable checks, visual equipment inspections, and other routine maintenance activities.
- Performing troubleshooting steps for networking, system, and power issues in the datacentre, guided by our experienced engineers.
- Welcoming new customers to the datacentre, ensuring that they are able to locate their space and equipment.
- Being the first response on customer tickets, keeping them informed and up to date on progress, adhering to our strict service level agreements.
- Providing assistance to other team members through installing datacentre cabling and infrastructure, and cross connect installation and certification tests.
- Racking and un-racking equipment in the datacentre depending on internal and external requirements.
- Documenting and record keeping to exacting standards.
- Occasional lifting of equipment up to and exceeding 25kg in accordance with relevant health and safety policies.
The Individual
- A passion for computers, data and technology
- Ability to talk about things you're proud to have achieved or learned either in a professional, hobby, or educational environment relating to the role.
- You are a problem solver with a positive outlook, focussing on what can be achieved rather than dwelling on what cannot.
- You will have a valid, current UK driving license, and preferably your own vehicle, insured for business use and be able to travel to other sites if required.
- You are proficient in common Office 365 IT apps such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong organisational skills with a high attention to detail
- Strong emotional intelligence & ability to adapt to differing stakeholder levels.
- Ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks at any given time.
- Pro-active and enthusiastic with a can-do attitude
