Morrison Water Services are currently looking to recruit a SHEQ Advisor to work on our Thames Water Smart Metering Contract in the Thames Valley.
As SHEQ Advisor you will be part of our SHEQ Team, accountable for ensuring the safe delivery of the SMART Metering Project across the entire Thames Water area.
The Thames Water Smart Metering Contract is the largest of its kind in Europe. It is responsible to our client for both the installation, maintenance and replacement of water meters in both domestic and commercial properties. We operate across the entire Thames Water region, primarily for leakage detection purposes, allowing our client to achieve their OFWAT targets.
You’ll be advising project teams throughout the project lifecycle but specifically during planning and delivery stages. Encouraging safe behaviours and ways of working at all stages of works, including travelling to and from site.
Carrying out regular site visits and audits. Supporting the site teams in identifying solutions and options to overcome issues. Deliver TBTs and safety briefings.
Supporting safe dig and safe working campaigns and improvements. Provide training and advice. Encourage the reporting of near misses through proactive engagement with operatives and supervisors.
Review risk assessments and method statements. Conduct investigations of incidents and accidents identifying root cause analysis and recommendations to prevent re-occurrence.
Report incidents in line with Thames Water and parent company minimum requirements and submit reports within agreed timescales. Ensure actions from investigations are acted upon and close-out the report in a timely manner.
Deliver regular and appropriate toolbox talks. Support Wellbeing Campaigns and deliver toolbox talks and briefings on subject matter.
Assist in the identification of safety training needs for site-based personnel. Bringing these to the attention of the Senior and Contract Health and Safety Managers.
Co-operate with the Health and Safety Executive in connection with their site visits. Suggest, communicate, and promote initiatives for accident prevention.
Monitor compliance with electronic management systems (such as MWS BMS). Promoting innovation and different ways of working.
Do you have one-two years of experience in Utilities, preferably the water sector?
Have you gained NEBOSH National General or Construction Certificate (preferred), and a Level-3 Award in Education and Training/PTTLS or equivalent?
Do you have an understanding and experience of utilities and associated civils works (specifically water)?
Are you able to convey messaging to others and to help amend their behaviours if needed?
Are you computer literate, with experience of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook?
Do you have a working knowledge of current UK Health and Safety legislation and best practice.
Can you maintain records and prepare reports?
Are you able to evaluate safety practices, procedures, programmes, attitudes, and awareness and to recommend methods of improvement?
Do you have knowledge of a variety of occupational health risk environments, such as confined spaces, and safety devices to use in conjunction with tools and equipment in the workplace?
Are you experienced in delivering and implementing behaviour-based safety initiatives?
Are you knowledgeable in the properties, handling and storage of corrosives, contaminates and flammables?
