Would you like to work for the leading Charity in the heritage sector? If so, we would love to hear from you and you to join us at English Heritage. We are looking for a Membership Recruiter to join us at Walmer Castle working 14.4 hours per week. This will be an annualised contract, 748.8 hours, working an average of 14.4 hours per week, which may fluctuate during the summer and winter seasons.

No history background? No problem. What is important to us is a passion for people and excellent customer service. We want our staff to enjoy working with others as part of a team and understand what makes excellent customer service to deliver an engaging visitor experience to a diverse audience.

Walmer Castle and Gardens was originally constructed during the reign of Henry VIII to protect the shipping anchorages in the Downs. Since then it has been adapted and enhanced as the official residence of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, with apartments and extensive grounds and gardens. Sited right on the coast it is a fascinating and beautiful place to work in and to visit. Our Team are friendly, outgoing and professional and our collective goal is to make Walmer a must see destination for visitors from near and far.

By joining us at Walmer Castle & Gardens as a Membership Recruiter, you will join an amazing team of employees and volunteers, making sure visitors have a great time from the moment they arrive until they say goodbye. Working as part of a team, you will deliver a warm welcome to everyone and by connecting with our visitors, you will engage and inspire them to become members of English Heritage, helping them to see more and do more at our properties whilst helping us to secure the long term future of the Charity. You will be confident in talking to our visitors and will thrive on exceeding targets for your team.

Training and support will be provided as part of your induction to the role, but some paid or voluntary experience working with the public may be beneficial. There will be requirement to work weekends and Bank Holidays, more information will be provided at interview.

If you have a genuine enthusiasm for engaging with people, providing an outstanding welcome and at the same time relish the opportunity to turn this engagement into English Heritage membership, this could be the role for you.

If you would like to talk to us about this role before you apply, e.g. regarding workplace adjustments, working patterns, please contact Martin Dice, Visitor Welcome Supervisor, on [email protected]. No agencies please.
