Job description
Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated and dynamic English Teacher to join an SEMH provision in Huddersfield on a long term basis starting as soon as possible.
The school caters for a diverse group of learners aged 11-18 with complex social, emotional, mental health, needs and other associated conditions, who have been removed from mainstream education. You will play a pivotal role in leading and coordinating the delivery of Functional Skills and GCSE English throughout the school. Your commitment will be instrumental in maintaining the highest standards and ensuring the continued delivery of excellence for students. As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for: Fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages academic and personal growth. Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging English lessons tailored to the needs of students in a KS3-4 SEMH provision. Managing small groups or individuals, with differentiating learning needs. Collaborating with the wider team to develop and implement effective teaching strategies. Implementing a systematic approach to monitoring, assessment, and reporting of student progress. Managing the use of support staff within the classroom. Ensuring students achieve agreed-upon targets for progress. Communicating and consulting with parents on all aspects of their child’s education. Serving as a mentor to a student or group of students, communicating regularly with parents. Embedding a culture of positivity and motivation. To be successful in this role, you should have: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. Proven experience teaching English to students with SEMH needs. Ability to teach Functional Skills and up to GCSE level. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
