Job description
The Role
We are looking for a youth development
professional to provide empathetic and welfare-driven individual player care to
players in the Under 18 age group and support wider our player care team.
You’ll manage and deliver the
Lifelong Learner Programme for players in the Under 18 age group and support our Host Family education programme.

Your day-to-day
- Building relationships - build
and maintain positive relationships with all players and parents in the Under
18 age group by understanding each player’s background, ascertaining and
providing the appropriate support and act as a first point of contact at the
Academy
- Programme management and
delivery - manage and deliver the programmes for our players and their Host Families
- Player care - be a
proactive member of the Wellbeing in Performance Group, responsible for leading
on the Under 18 aspects of the Lifelong Learner Programme and supporting the
Player Care Manager as required
- Administration - ensure
all records relating to player care are
well-maintained, up to date and accurate
- Connecting people and departments - act as a conduit between players,
their families and other Club departments and help to appropriately
appraise any issues proactively with a view to resolving and facilitating the
player’s ongoing development
- Managing stakeholders - build
and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external
stakeholders including wider Club and multidisciplinary staff, national
governing bodies and associated third parties
- Event management and operations - engage with the planning and delivery of tours and tournaments, and supporting the tour programme for the U18 age group
What we are looking for
- Proven background in sports and high performance - experience in an environment with similar sporting and fast paced characteristics as our club
- Mentor and proven youth worker - experience working with children, young people and hard-to-reach clients or families
- Excellent administrator - administration experience within the sport sector, with IT skills including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
- Excellent communicator and coordinator - communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, coordinate and collaborate with wider academy departments to successfully deliver the Lifelong Learner Programme
- Safeguarding and development - understanding of Premier League Youth Development Rules and Elite Player Performance Plan and knowledge of relevant safeguarding legislation and protocols
- Compliance and advisory experience – able to provide practical, legally compliant advice on a broad range of player care matters and ensure youth player issues are dealt with in a speedy, fair and efficient manner
- Flexibility and adaptability - flexible approach to work and a commitment to a positive team ethos, with the availability to work evenings and weekends if needed
