Housing Support Worker

County Durham

Temporary for 6 months, full time (37.5 hpw), Monday to Friday

Pay £10.90 per hour (£21,314 per annum) and great benefits including Health Cash Plan

As our Housing Support Worker, you’ll be at the heart of supporting our customers who have complex Mental Health needs to develop their skills to live more independently in the community. Typical day as our Housing Support Worker

• Assisting customers with practical, daily living tasks to develop their independence, helping them to achieve the goals, aspirations and outcomes documented in their support plans.
• Helping customers with daily living activities such as benefit applications, budgeting, social inclusion, maintaining their tenancy, find suitable accommodation.
• Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.
• Cuppas, chats and catch ups. There’s no rushing from one customer to the next here! Plenty of time to work together with colleagues too.

You bring

• Passion to support our customers to live their best life, working together with an eye for detail.
• Experience of supporting others, you may have worked in this environment before or have experience of supporting others such as family members.
• Knowledge of working with complex mental health customers and recognise that every customer has different needs you need to be able to adopt a flexible, personal approach.
• It would be desirable if you have some background within the housing and benefit area.
• The ability to work on your own initiative, remain calm under pressure and have a resilient approach.
• To get from A to B, you’ll need a vehicle insured for business purposes. The great news is that we’ll pay your mileage.

Due to limits on our current certificates of sponsorship, we are not able to offer sponsorship to external candidates for this role.  This remains under regular review.

You’ll join DMWA Mental Health Hospital Discharge team, we’re super passionate about what we do. We’re proud of the support we give our NHS colleagues, and the difference we make to our customers lives. We’re a supportive bunch and like to meet for catch ups as often as we can.

Job details

• Where we’re flexible with you, we do need to meet the needs of our customers. That may mean adapting your start or finishing times on occasion.
• Able to use technology to update support plans, complete online learning and to collaborate with colleagues.
• You’ll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.
