Key Purpose: Accountable for the engineering strategy across the department, to provide a high level of technical leadership and support to Engineering and Operations. Building and developing high performance teams by investing in our people. Ensuring the site preventative maintenance requirements are executed to the required standards and in line with our commitments to safe delivery, cost and quality. Also, direct and lead team to support reactive maintenance activities with the day team. Coaching and developing the team to ensure we have the rights skills and constantly striving to improve delivery and execution.
- Direct reporting responsibility for Maintenance Leads, Asset Care team, Maintenance Planners, and Reliability Engineers.
- Budget ownership for R&M.
- Through strong leadership, drive the maintenance execution plan & program for SRDC to meet operational requirements.
- Influence the effective implementation of standards and safe working systems within maintenance programs throughout the site.
- Support the leadership in designing and implementing preventative maintenance and condition monitoring systems.
- Work with the wider support functions to ensure effective execution of all shutdown and start up activities.
- Ensure that all planned activities are executed to the required standard and as per the prescribed scheduled frequency.
- Provide support to Shift teams and Technician groups to develop functional engineering skills.
- Ensure effective service is provided through the computerised maintenance monitoring system.
- Liaison with stores team to ensure that there is an effective parts availability service and constantly review to ensure right stock levels and items.
- Drive behaviour and support teams to ensure all major breakdowns/gaps have a clear root cause analysis and that it is completed and communicated effectively.
- Develops positive relationship and drives improvement with key contractors and suppliers.
- Excellent influencing, communication and decision-making skills.
- Display leadership coaching & mentoring skills for peers, and all levels of the business.
- Analyse and interpret data on top loss pareto and link to reliability improvement work streams.
- Be the PM pillar lead for IWS - governing the PM pillar program for site, supporting and enabling work through autonomous maintenance pillar.
- Accountable for the technical capability roadmap across the site with a strategic vision to grow and develop in house talent.
- Owning the standard maintenance deployment across the site to align with the UK and Sector maintenance strategy deployment.
- The person in role must be a fully qualified Mechanical or Electrical engineer.
- Able to demonstrate leadership and team management experience.
- Requires experience of setting/owning and execution of team strategies to achieve agreed Must Win Battles.
- Must take ownership of managing all maintenance strategy and execution.
- First degree or equivalent in an engineering related discipline.
- Proven technical experience within FMCG.
- Knowledge and experience of EAM/CMMS and understands the importance of the system.
- Excellent understanding and application of business knowledge across the broader business environment.
- Great communicator with excellent presentation skills and influencing skills.
- Proven analytical skills - ability to interpret complex data and distil into useful and actionable information.
- Ability to explain complex technical issues/solutions to a non-technical audience.
- Self-starter, self-motivating - able to deal with uncertainty and complexity.
- Knowledge of Lean systems design principles would be advantageous.
