We are currently recruiting for a Specifications Technologist to work in our busy manufacturing site in Merthyr Tydfil.

This is a full time position, fixed for 12 months Maternity cover. Working Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm with a salary of between £30,000 to £36,000 depending on experience.

Job Purpose / Primary Objective:

Reporting to the NPD Manager, the Specification Technologist is a key member of the Group NPD Team ensuring that all customer specifications are completed accurately for all finished products in a timely manner. The Specification Technologist will be responsible for ensuring that all new products are developed in accordance with company and customer expectations, this will include ensuring that all packaging and artwork is compliant with legal/customer requirements and ensuring that the quality of any new products meet the high standards expected of products across all sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following:

• Main contact for customer specification at Group level.
• Preparation of customer specifications (on line & paper) accurately & on time with a right first-time approach.
• Coordinate customer spec queries/updates across all company sites.
• Liaise with all relevant teams internally for up-to-date information for spec population
• Product Development Support when required
• Ensure the company’s products are developed to the customer specification and within the customer codes of practice / procurement policies
• Liaise between customers and NPD/Technical teams.

Requirements

Skills & Experience:

• Qualification in Food Science beneficial.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Accuracy with key to detail is essential.
• Excellent Communication Skills with the ability to deal with all levels of the organisation.
• Good Problem Solving & Decision-Making Skills.

Key Competencies:

• Full knowledge of customer specification systems
• Relevant Food Legislation Knowledge
• UK, Irish & EU retail artwork processes and systems
• Liase and develop relationships with counterparts internal and external
