The Strategic Outline Case was approved in Spring 2021 and the Trust will seek Outline Business Case approval by July 2024 with Full Business case approval by September 2025. It is the Trusts desire to move at pace with the construction of this development and will have commenced works on the site by the end of 2025 (subject to agreement of procurement route). The Nursing Lead New Hospital-Strategic Projects will work alongside the Associate Medical Director to provide multidisciplinary clinical leadership for the design of the clinical services, their pathways, and their processes. The role is responsible for engaging staff, patients and the public in the co-production process that will create a new health and care facility which meets the needs of both the population it will provide care for and the staff who will provide that care. This process will centre on bringing together the views of QEHKLs clinicians with those of its service users and system wide stakeholders, to design a clinical model which is fit for the future. The initial output is a clinical design brief that informs the shape and content of the new facility in a way that drives material strides in quality and outcomes, whilst addressing key healthcare issues such as sustainability, inequality and prevention. Beyond that, the Nursing Lead New Hospital-Strategic Projects will provide nursing leadership for the adoption of the new model of care and the transition into the new facility. The outputs will have to be delivered within the challenging time, cost, and quality parameters of the Future Hospitals Program.
