**Prep & Polisher**

**Salary:** £25,000/annum

**Shift:** Mon Friday : 08:00 16:00

**Location:** Coventry

**Job Title: Prep and Polisher (Automotive)**

**Key Responsibilities:**

* **Surface Preparation:**
* Clean and prepare vehicle surfaces by sanding, masking, and ensuring proper adhesion.
* Fill and smooth imperfections, such as dents or scratches, using appropriate materials.

* **Paint Correction:**
* Perform paint corrections to remove swirls, scratches, and other defects from the vehicle's painted surfaces.
* Use polishing compounds, buffers, and polishing pads to achieve a smooth and glossy finish.

* **Colour Sanding:**
* Conduct colour sanding to refine and level the painted surfaces, achieving a flawless appearance.
* Follow specific guidelines to ensure uniformity and quality in the finish.

* **Polishing and Buffing:**
* Polish and buff vehicle surfaces to enhance shine and restore the original luster of the paint.
* Apply compounds, polishes, and waxes to protect and maintain the finish.

* **Quality Control:**
* Conduct visual inspections to ensure the quality and consistency of the finished paintwork.
* Address any defects or inconsistencies, striving for a showroom-quality appearance.

* **Masking and Taping:**
* Mask and tape areas not intended for painting or polishing to protect them from damage.
* Ensure precision in covering designated areas to maintain a clean and professional look.

* **Equipment Maintenance:**
* Maintain and clean polishing equipment, buffers, and tools.
* Perform routine inspections and minor repairs to ensure optimal functionality.

* **Safety Compliance:**
* Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a secure work environment.
* Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices.

* **Collaboration:**
* Work closely with other automotive technicians, painters, and detailing professionals.
* Communicate effectively to coordinate workflow and address any issues.

* **Documentation:**
* Maintain accurate records of work performed, including detailing procedures and materials used.
* Complete required documentation for quality assurance and customer service purposes.

**Qualifications and Skills:**

* Proven experience as a Prep and Polisher in the automotive industry.
* Proficient knowledge of surface preparation, colour sanding, and polishing techniques.
* Attention to detail and commitment to achieving high-quality finishes.
* Familiarity with various polishing compounds, waxes, and detailing products.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

**Education and Certifications:**

* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Certification or training in automotive detailing and paint correction is advantageous.

**Physical Requirements:**

* Ability to lift and move detailing equipment.
* Comfortable standing for extended periods and working in various weather conditions.
