A Vacancy at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

Are you an experienced pharmacist looking for a career change or your next challenge in an acute hospital trust?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join our friendly pharmacy team at Colchester Hospital.

You will have the opportunity to continue to develop and improve our processes for the accountability of High Cost Drugs usage within practice with a particular focus on biosimilar medicine and Homecare activity. Being the link pharmacist to both rheumatology and neurology services will facilitate this activity as will close cross-site working relationships with colleagues at the Ipswich site.

Our friendly pharmacy team are dedicated to nurturing, mentoring and developing our staff to reach their full potential. We provide pharmacy forums, tutorials and weekly ICS/ESNEFT delivered educational workshops. We support personal development plans, smart objective setting and opportunities for study.

ESNEFT is about to embark on a full site wide implementation of the EPIC electronic patient record which includes electronic prescribing and administration and pharmacy stock control system replacement.

In addition to our fully automated dispensaries, we host a Regional Unit of Medicines Information, Pharmacy Manufacturing (including a brand new Aseptic facility) and will soon open our brand new Elective Orthopaedic Centre at the Colchester site.

This post is for 27.5 hours per week however there may be scope in the future to increase hours.

Actively manage and lead on the delivery of biologic biosimilar drugs and other high cost drugs at Colchester hospital.

Ensure that savings on high cost drugs are generated and optimised through effective implementation of strategies around biosimilars and other high cost drugs.

Establish working relationships with clinicians and nurses in the review of patients who are initiated or switched to biosimilar and other related high cost drugs.

Develop working relationships with key personnel at the CCG and NHSE to ensure funding is in place for high cost drugs.

Ensure that the use of Bluteq is fully utilised within practice.

Oversee holistic Pharmacy Homecare activity at the Colchester site.

Act as a lead Pharmacist in specialist clinical areas (Rheumatology and Neurology) and develop medicines optimisation strategies within these areas of expertise.

Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the optimal and cost effective use of medicines within routine clinical pharmacy practice; minimising drug wastage and managing the use of high-cost medicines accordingly.
