Job description
Selwood Housing is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Health, Safety and Environment to join our organization. As the Head of Health, Safety and Environment, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of health, safety, and environmental practices across the company.
Your role will involve developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations, as well as creating a culture of safety and environmental awareness throughout the organization. You will work closely with key stakeholders to establish and maintain effective health, safety, and environmental management systems.
In addition, you will be responsible for:
- Leading and managing a team of health, safety, and environment professionals
- Providing strategic direction and guidance on health, safety, and environmental matters
- Conducting risk assessments and implementing appropriate control measures
- Developing and delivering training programs to promote health, safety, and environmental awareness
- Monitoring and analyzing health, safety, and environmental performance and identifying areas for improvement
- Ensuring compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental legislation and regulations
Requirements
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification
- Chartered membership of ISOH, or willingness to gain chartered membership
- CISRS – Scaffold inspection
- Internal auditing qualification or significant demonstratable experience
- Significant practical Health & Safety experience, preferably within the construction/housing maintenance & repair sector
- Understanding of Health, Safety and Environment management systems
- Good, up to date, working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including, occupational health & safety, CDM, Building Safety Act 2022
- Experience of working in Social Housing or in the construction sector
- Significant practical Health & Safety experience, preferably within the construction/housing maintenance & repair sector
- Experience of designing and delivering presentations and in-house training.
- Experience of leading on operational business continuity
- People management experience in a small team
- Experience of working with enforcement agencies, i.e. HSE
- Experience of carrying out complex accident/incident investigations

On offer is an annual salary of £65k and excellent benefits including; 27 days holiday plus 2 extra days (one for your birthday and one over Christmas break), an enhanced defined contributions pension and life assurance.
Our office is located a short walk from Trowbridge train station and we have onsite parking. We offer hybrid working 2-3 days per week in the office.
