Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to get experience working in the newly developed West Sussex Stroke Early Supported Discharge (ESD) pathway, covering 12 months maternity leave. Specialist neuropsychology supervision provided which can contribute towards the QiCN. The Stroke Early Support Discharge Service is a key part of the pathway for stroke survivors and their carers. . Our team support people to leave hospital earlier than they may have otherwise and provides intense Stroke rehabilitation at home to maximise their independence, for between 4-6 weeks.

Our team includes Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists, and Therapy Assistants. You will be working as an integral part of the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team, providing consultation and advice as well as individual support to clients. You will work closely with the Acute Stroke wards and the Community Neurorehabilitation Teams. You will also be part of the wider Neuropsychology Service and Clinical Health Psychology Service within SPFT.

You will be a member of Early Supported Discharge pathway which is embedded within the interdisciplinary Community Neurorehabilitation team and spans the Acute Stroke wards. You will be part of SPFTs wider Clinical Health Psychology team which comprises of applied psychologists, neuropsychologists, CBT therapists, allied health professionals and medical professionals working in a range of services across Sussex. Furthermore, there is the SPFT Neuropsychology Professional Network group, which brings together neuropsychologists from across different care pathways within SPFT, and provides excellent opportunity for sharing ideas, CPD and service development.
