Our client is looking for a CIPA qualified Patent Paralegal to assist its fee earners within the life sciences team. As a Patent Paralegal you will be reporting directly to a partner, as well as having the responsibility of managing at least one significant client relationship. You will work closely with other professionals in the support team to make sure that all deadlines are met, and that fee earners have the necessary support.
Responsibilities:
- Patent Application Preparation: Assist attorneys in preparing, drafting, and filing patent applications with relevant patent offices. This includes conducting prior art searches, preparing patent drawings, and ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate.
- Prosecution Support: Provide support during the patent prosecution process, including tracking the status of applications, preparing, and filing responses to office actions, and managing communication with patent examiners.
- Patent Portfolio Management: Assist in managing the firm's patent portfolio, including updating patent statuses, tracking pending applications, granted patents, and patent maintenance schedules.
- Documentation and Records: Organise and maintain patent files, documents, and records, ensuring they are easily accessible and well-organised for quick reference.
Requirements:
- A CIPA qualification is highly desirable.
- Previous experience as a Patent Paralegal or a strong background in patent prosecution, patent law, or Intellectual Property is preferred.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to conduct prior art searches, analyse patent-related information, and interpret legal documents accurately.
- Organisational Skills: Strong organisational and time management skills to handle multiple patent cases and deadlines efficiently.
- Collaboration: Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and other legal professionals.
