Job description
Role: Datacenter Engineer
Location : Harlow, London
Mandatory Skills:
- Must have at least 3 years' experience of IaaS working in an in-house or COLO datacentre.
- Basic hardware support not just limited to manual power cycling of devices as well as replacing any hot swappable components on request.
- Experience in using Service-Now to create changes and CTASK, updates statuses and close down changes on completion.
- Proactively monitoring Service-now for alerts, incidents and tasks, corresponding and communicating with third-party vendors and internal clients.
- Knowledgeable in technical project requirements to give guidance of physical provisioning, power, cooling and logical network connectivity.
- A Pro-active approach is required for this role, to continuously improve services and processes.
- Excellent Microsoft skills, Excel, Visio, Word, Outlook & Teams
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills including: Communication- written and verbal and be able to be articulate in negotiating and reaching agreements for project work and problem solving.
- Must hold a full UK driving licence.
Responsibilities:
- Create rack elevation plans and patching schematics using excel and Visio for copper and fibre connectivity.
- Patching, racking and stacking for installs, following internal best practices & IMAC process.
- Installation and testing of physical patching to equipment, dressing down and labelling cables.
- Material control, maintain records of deliveries, storage and update ticketing systems.
- Daily housekeeping checks, reporting on noncompliance issues, hardware alerts and tracking until remediated.
- Managing access control process for the datacentre, raising requests tickets for authorised approval.
