Job Description: We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Agency Head Chef to join their team. As the Agency Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our kitchen operations, ensuring that our residents receive delicious and nutritious meals that meet their dietary needs and preferences.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and cook meals for residents, taking into account dietary requirements, allergies, and personal preferences.
- Develop seasonal menus that are nutritious, varied, and appealing to our residents.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including ordering ingredients, managing inventory, and maintaining kitchen hygiene standards.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring that they adhere to food safety regulations and follow standard operating procedures.
- Monitor food costs and budgetary constraints while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure the smooth running of meal services and special events.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in elderly care catering.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in a similar environment, preferably within a care home or healthcare facility.
- Strong culinary skills and a passion for creating delicious and nutritious meals.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to manage a team and work collaboratively with other departments.
- S/NVQ 2 or equivalent in Catering and Hospitality or Professional Cookery.
- Food Hygiene Certificate at a minimum of Level 2
- Understanding of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, as required.
- Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications.
