We are seeking an experienced Clinical Psychologist to join us in a senior role (8a) in our Early Child Development Pathway, providing specialist complex assessment and intervention to children under 5 across Devon. We have a full-time vacancy available but can consider part-time requests.

Preceptorship opportunitynew/early qualified psychologists could be appointed to this role at band 7 under a preceptorship to work towards requirements for band 8a, subject to satisfactory completion of preceptorship process.

Main duties of the job

As a SeniorClinical Psychologist, you will be offering high-quality complex assessmentsand psychological input to children, young people and their families who accessthe support of this pathway. You will bring advanced formulation skills andconsultation to your team alongside wider service development contributions.

There will be CPD opportunities to support your development and acommitment to supporting your career progression at this stage in relation toconsolidating your supervisory role and leadership skills as well as furtherexpanding your clinical knowledge and skills.

You will have regular clinical supervision and separate line management.You will be supported with a job plan with opportunities to use a breadth ofskills including research and service development. There is a strong andfriendly network of Clinical Psychologists working across CFHD, enjoying sharedCPD and professional support. We also have excellent links with local Doctoralcourses for teaching and Trainee placements.

About us

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises an Alliance of NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes for children and young people in Devon.

CFHD provides integrated care and treatment for children and young people across physical and mental health which are provided by Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust and Devon Partnership Trust. We are working closely with other organisations and providers to ensure we deliver locality and county-wide based integrated access to all of our services, based on the i-Thrive Framework.

CFHD works closely with our local universities of Plymouth, Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where we support students in clinical training placements and in addition support our own staff to undertake post graduate training.

Our integrated care and treatment has been developed and refined in partnership with children, young people and their families/carers.

Job responsibilities

As aSenior Clinical Psychologist, you will be a valuable member of themultidisciplinary team, contributing to formal assessment and intervention withinfants and young children who present with significant developmental delay inthe context of complex medical needs, developmental trauma and attachmentneeds.

Therewill be opportunities to apply your experienced clinical skills in a breadth ofwork including the administration of complex formal assessment, the assessmentof parent/child interaction, contributing to complex and integrated clinicalformulations as well as develop skills in specialist parent/child intervention.

As aSenior Clinical Psychologist in the Pathway you would provide supervision toothers, both Clinical Psychology colleagues and others as appropriate. Therewould also be opportunity to develop your clinical leadership skills, leadingothers in areas such as audit, service development, project work and trainingas appropriate.

Theappointed candidate will work jointly with, and provide consultation to,members of the multidisciplinary team and professionals from other agencies.The role would include working closely at an inter-agency level as required,contributing to processes including TAF and EHCP.

The EarlyChild Development Pathway is made up of a strong multi-disciplinary teamincluding Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and LanguageTherapists, and Early Years Practitioners. The pathway works closely with thephysiotherapy service.

ThePathway is county-wide, which enables flexibility regarding the base alongsidethe recruitment of other posts, so long as the service needs are able to bemet.
