Cheltenham Ladies’ College is recruiting for the post of Head of Learning Support (SENDCo). This exciting opportunity has arisen due to the current post holder, who has successfully held the role for a number of years, deciding to retire at the end of the academic year.
The Head of Learning Support is responsible for leading and managing the College’s learning support provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities to ensure high-quality teaching and learning and the effective use of resources so that all pupils achieve to the best of their ability.
The Learning Support team includes an Assistant Head of Learning Support, three specialist Coaches, a SEND Mentor and an Administrator. The successful candidate will have proven management experience and be able to lead and take forward a successful department and to continue to build on the journey of transformation.
The successful candidate will have proven knowledge and experience of working with pupils with a range of learning needs including specific learning difficulties and neurodivergent conditions and will have the ability to lead the department to deliver specific, targeted support across the College. The Head of Learning Support is a key member of the College’s management team and works closely with the College’s Pastoral care teams, academic leads and external stakeholders in a strategic and operational capacity to identify those in need and to ensure the highest level of Learning Support is in place for all.
A teaching qualification and post-graduate qualification at Level 7 in Specific Learning Difficulties is required as is a qualification in conducting individual specialist assessment for the purpose of access arrangements and reasonable adjustments. The National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (NASENCO) is desirable.
