Senior Financial AccountantAbout this role
We’re excited to have a new opportunity in our Finance team for a fully qualified Senior Accounting Associate. This newly created role, reporting directly to the Head of Accounting and Reporting, is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, curious and self-motivated individual who is looking to take the next step in furthering their Finance career.
Not your typical team of month end accountants, the UK Accounting team report directly to our US business, partner closely with business teams within the UK and play a pivotal role in supporting the UK Board of Directors. This role has an opportunity to be shaped by the individual, with a focus on developing and delivering our regulatory and statutory reporting, evolving our risk management initiatives and working with stakeholders to drive forward key initiatives.
The UK Accounting team is entering a period of expansion and exciting change and this is a rare opportunity to be part of the journey. We’re looking for someone who is technically competent, team orientated and with a restless energy to help move our business forward. In return you’ll be given a wealth of opportunities and support to develop and regular exposure to senior leadership both in the UK and US.
What you’ll be doing
Developing insightful internal reporting under IFRS and bringing an analytical eye to the quarterly reports
Ownership of regulatory and statutory reporting under IFRS, including production of annual accounts and supporting the external audit
Drive the risk management agenda across the team, ensuring risks and controls are fully understood, documented and tested
Articulating technical accounting concepts to support and advise Finance and non-Finance partners on business and enterprise wide initiatives
Challenging existing processes, continually searching for efficiencies and driving automation opportunities
What we’re looking for
Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA) with strong technical accounting knowledge and risk management mindset
Experience working in a Finance or Audit team. Financial services experience preferred but not essential
Strong reporting and analytical skills with a high attention to detail and focus on meeting stakeholder needs
Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tasks and initiatives, as well as playing an active and supportive role in the UK Accounting team
Ability to take ownership of the role and set the context from the outset
Drive to progress a career in Accounting and Finance
We are committed to creating a level playing field and seek to create teams that are representative of our customers and the communities we serve. We’d love to hear from you if you identify with a typically under-represented group in our industry and are particularly keen to hear from women, the LGBTQ+ community and ethnic minority candidates.
Where and how you'll work
This is a permanent position based in our Nottingham offices.
We have a hybrid working model which gives you flexibility to work from our offices and from home.
We’re big on collaboration and connection, so you’ll be based in our Nottingham office 3 days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Many of our associates have flexible working arrangements, and we're open to talking about an arrangement that works for you.
What’s in it for you
Bring us all this - and you’ll be well rewarded with a role contributing to the roadmap of an organisation committed to transformation
We offer high performers strong and diverse career progression, investing heavily in developing great people through our Capital One University training programmes (and appropriate external providers)
Immediate access to our core benefits including pension scheme, bonus, generous holiday entitlement and private medical insurance – with flexible benefits available including season-ticket loans, cycle to work scheme and enhanced parental leave
Open-plan workspaces and accessible facilities designed to inspire and support you. Our Nottingham head-office has a fully-serviced gym, subsidised restaurant, mindfulness and music rooms. In London, you can heighten your mood with a run on our rooftop running track or an espresso at the Workshop Coffee café
