Job description

What you will do in your working day

As a Tool Room Apprentice, you will use your acquired skills to provide vital support for our press shop and manufacturing teams using a variety of different machines, such as:

-        Lathe & computer numerically controlled (CNC) Lathe

-        Milling Machine & CNC Milling machine

-        Surface Grinder & CNC Surface Grinder

-        Electro-discharge machine (EDM)

-        EDM Drill

-        Laser Cutter

Combined with your college course, you will build into a highly trained, multiskilled technician working in a fast-paced environment with opportunities to develop further into our business.

The training you will be getting

Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Worcester (WR4 9GN):

Duration approximately 40-45 months.

Year 1 includes 26-42 weeks off the job training to cover practical and theory aspects

Year 2 would include 1 day per week to complete EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Development Knowledge

Years 2,3&4 will be based in company developing skills in preparation for the end point assessment to gain your Engineering Technician- Toolmaker, Level 3 qualification.

You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment.

Additional training for functional skills in English and Maths will be undertaken if needed.

There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on programme.
